Dr. Shufer is the Chief of Staff of Alta Rancho Pet & Bird Hospital. A native New Yorker, Dr. Shufer completed his veterinary degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1984 with high honors. He went on to pursue a 13-month medical and surgical internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. From there, Dr. Shufer joined a large specialty practice (Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital) where he further honed his clinical skills. In the late ’80s, Dr. Shufer and his wife, Brenda, moved to San Diego, where he purchased and ran Tierrasanta Veterinary Hospital. In 1993, the Shufers moved to Rancho Cucamonga to take over the reins of Alta Rancho Pet and Bird Hospital.
Dr. Shufer has many special interests within the veterinary field, including cardiology, ultrasonography, neurology, dermatology, dentistry and orthopedic and laser surgery.
The Shufers currently live in Claremont with their fourcats: Griffen, Bert, Sadie and Oberon. Dr. Shufer enjoys music, guitar, reading, theater, photography, biking, sailing, skiing and racquet sports in his time off.
